Better colors in map keys, more information on maps
For the different maps, it is hard to read the key.
1. Some maps become readable before the map key does and you have to keep zooming in so you can read it. (For example the US about the time of the American Revolution).
2. On other maps the colors on the maps don't seem to correspond to the colors in the key or the colors are indistinguishable because they are so close. (For example the Birth Rates map). It would help to use colors that weren't shades of other colors. The first thing I did was search "American Revolution"…

Needs to be completed
A great instructional tool. ASIA is missing based on my limited search in its world history site.
It cannot be called a World Atlas missing a whole continent!

merdator madness
You need some way of adjusting the projection to the overhead point rather than making Antarctica the world's biggest continent.
I tried to make a map of the Indian Ocean and I save something but I could not see my map, just a whitish rectangle on the larger map with the distance distortions going south.
It would help to have topographic elevation lines and satellite images. That may require a step progression starting with some limit on area looked at befor loading data-heavy layers.

Ability to control the zoom function
It would be nice to have a more advance zoom function to allow the printing of exact areas.

Minimize tool bar
It would be nice if we would have the ability to minimize the tool bar/menu on the left so that we could have a full screen view of the maps we want to see. When working on a SMART board that is more suited to a square screen (800X600), this menu takes up too much room to maximize the map view.

A map for every year
Especially in U.S. History, it would be valuable to be able to type a year in U.S. History, and see a layer of a historical map for each year.

need more outlines!
This tool is useful, but only partly. For example: you provide a map of European countries during WWI, but it's already labeled. If we want students to label their own maps, it's only good as a reference. We're still left googling a blank world map of WWI.
It would be lovely to have labeled and unlabeled (outline) maps for the history section.

Minimize or "Hide" the side menu?
You need to make your maps available in a full screen mode.

Contour Maps
I would love to see Contour Maps for science class to look at elevation. Not sure if this is possible, but it's so hard to find good contour line maps online.
Thanks
3 votesOur “Terrain Map” style does have contour lines if you zoom in. Let me know if that helps!

Cold War Map and Post-WWII Map
Layers that show Europe and the rest of the Post-WWII and during and after the Cold War would be utilized frequently. Also, European colonialism in Africa would be well used.

new world map
I want to create a new world map consisting of a number of large area maps with sides ranging from 2,000 miles to 4,200 miles and outer edge distortion of less than 5 percent. The polar areas would be from 60 to 90 degrees latitude for a total arc of 60 degrees. I've defined ten continental and subcontinental area for land areas 5 ocean areas. Mercator won't do. A Google earth screen shot gives a good flat image from directly above an area of interest, but lacks longitude latitude lines and has poor labels.

Scaling the Download and Printing screen shot
Being able to print particular sections of the world is difficult because I can't manually adjust the Screenshot.
5 votesWe are planning to build a more flexible print tool in the future. You can also access a variety of pre-built maps by turning on the Geography Explorer and clicking on the “Maps” tab after clicking a country.

Unfortunatly we only currently support searching for countries and US States. We’re currently looking to add more content for cities and places of interest though, stay tuned for more updates!

UNESCO
Is there a way that I could show UNESCO Heritage sites? I am especially interested in the Spanish speaking world.
Thank you so much,4 votes -
SmartBoard plugin
Making a SmartBoard plugin to operate within SmartNotebook14 efficiently, like being able to pin to the toolbar, would be a huge asset.

more map projections
The Mercator map projection isn´t necessarily the best choice for most social studies maps. An equal area map like the Hobo Dyer or Peters may be a better choice.

cities by population or area, capitals
When I zoom in one level on the map of the United States, several cities appear, including Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Denver, and New York. But I can determine no reason why Denver is present when Philadelphia is not. Many cities are larger than Denver and Minneapolis--Philadelphia has more than double the population of Denver. Why not select cities to appear in order by population or area? For that matter, why don't the state capitals appear first?
